A mystery leak in a two-storey semi-detached house in Burnley had surveyors and builders scratching their heads.

The owners had recently had a new roof on the substantial property but still had water ingress.

Networx3 UAV were called in to do an aerial survey of the building to try and get to the bottom of the problem.

Networx3 UAV managing director Ian Ashworth deployed the Matrice 210 from Networx3 UAV’s stable of six drones because of its broadcast quality video, thermal imaging and high definition cameras which can pick up an image the size of a postage stamp from a kilometre away.

During an inspection flight the Matrice was able to pinpoint the problem – cracked mortar on the chimney and take crystal clear photographs of it.

Ian said: “There’s simply no way that a visual inspection from the ground would have identified where the water ingress was coming from. Erecting scaffolding would have been time consuming and expensive for the homeowner so doing a drone inspection was a low-cost, fast and safe way to get answers.”
