Networx3’s latest heavenly drone flight

May 4, 2022

It’s not the first time Networx3 UAV founder and managing director Ian Ashworth has flown a drone around a church – and it won’t be the last.

The latest ecclesiastical flight at St John the Evangelist, Worsthorne, was part of an enlightening talk for the Gorple Guys.

Ian was the guest expert speaker at the monthly group on April 12.

Ian, who is one of five Networx3 UAV commercial drone pilots, demonstrated three of the firm’s fleet of six-strong drones and did a quick spin around the church to show off the razor sharp clarity of the video footage it captured.

He was joined by one of Networx 3’s latest recruits – Olivia Cambridge – who is training to be the seventh Networx3 commercial drone pilot.

The audience enjoyed a live demonstration of the following:

  • Zoe - the Dutch-made weatherproof Acecore Technologies quadcopter drone.
  • The £28,000 Elios2 which looks like a football inside a cage and allows users to view locked away spaces such as holes in the ground, loft cavities, drains, as well as dangerous structures, vast warehouses and contaminated buildings. It includes thermal imaging, HD quality live streaming footage and photos accessible via the cloud.
  • One of the few waterproof drones on the market: Splash Drone SD4

Jim Leaver, from Gorple Guys, said: “Ian explained the many uses of drones and it was obvious that drones will be continually developed and improved for new usages limited only by their size and power. It was a brilliant evening, a big thank you to Ian and Olivia. It just flew by far too quickly!”

Networx3 is looking to work long term in the local community promoting the advantages of drones with public talks, school visits and outreach work.
